SPRING 2020

The Foundation is excited to share with you the 2020 Spring Enrichment offerings!

This spring, we are offering 8 weeks and more classes (3-4 options per day), most of which are run by our own EFS faculty members. We continue to offer online payments through Mobilearq.

 

​Morning classes are held from 7:30-8:25am; afternoon classes begin immediately after school, from 3:05pm-4:25pm. All classes are held on school premises. If your child attends after-care, they will be taken after their enrichment class to Tiny Treasures, where they can commence after-care from 4:25pm. If children are picked up late (after 4:35pm), a late charge of $10 per child is applied.

Please note: children must only be signed up for classes offered for their specific grade.

DEADLINE FOR SPRING REGISTRATION: SUNDAY, MARCH 22, 2020

Spaces are limited. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and a number of classes get sold out quickly.

Spring Session (March - May) Details

Pricing: All classes are $240 each.

  • Tuesday’s (8 Weeks): 3/31, 4/7, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 5/26 (no class 4/14) Makeup Class 6/2

  • Wednesday’s (8 Weeks): 4/1, 4/8, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 5/27 (no class 4/15) Makeup Class 6/3

  • Thursday’s (8 Weeks): 4/2, 4/9, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28 (no class 4/16) Makeup Class 6/4

  

Makeup Policy: We are building in one week at the end of each session for any makeups due to teacher illness or weather issues.

Tuesday Classes (8 Weeks)

 

*MORNING* Rise & Shine Yoga w/ Mrs. Criscione (Grades 3-6) AM CLASS

Reflect, Focus, Grow. Students will learn important techniques for breathing, posture, balance and mindful thinking, which can be extended into the classroom as tools for focus, contentment, and success. Students will discuss personal mental and physical health goals, learn the importance of self-efficacy and emotional awareness, and work to understand needs for balance in daily life. 

 

What’s Your Story? w/ Mrs. McNish & Mrs. Buonomo (Grades K-6)

Everyone has a story bouncing around inside his or her head. Everyone has characters running around in there screaming to come out. Let us help you let them out! Join us for a creative, engaging, and most of all, fun time. We will help you to use your own words and illustrations to bring that story to life by creating your very own book!

 

Silly Sports w/ Mr. V (Grades K-2) - SOLD OUT

Set your silly free! Mr. V. is back with his all-too-popular sports class designed to help our budding athletes develop and strengthen critical skills, confidence, sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, overcoming obstacles and rising to new challenges.

 

Wizarding World w/ Mrs. Brzostowski (Grades 3-6)

Come and be sorted into your house as we dive into the first book of the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Participants will read parts of the novel, create crafts and immerse themselves in all things Harry Potter. 

 

Baseball Bonanza w/ Miss Wieczorek (Grades 3-6)

Learn, watch, score! Did you know that Baseball is really a game of numbers, and the study of statistics is essential for understanding the game? Students join Miss Wieczorek for some baseball talk and to work on a variety of skills including organizing data, probability and even some baseball trivia. Math skills and baseball - What could be better?

Wednesday Classes (8 Weeks)

Spring Books & Crafts w/ Mrs. MacKenzie (Grades K-2)

Spring ahead and come craft with Mrs. MacKenzie! A Springtime storybook will be introduced each week including both classic and newer adventures.  After the book, students will create a correlating craft to take home culminating their literary adventures. 

Space Odyssey w/ Artsy Smartsy (Grades K-2)

Travel the stars with us as you become space pioneers exploring the galaxy and creating some amazing artful projects along the way. We’ll talk about our amazing solar system, build models of some planets and their moons, and learn how gravity and weather are different everywhere in the Universe.

 

Readers Theater/Drama Club w/ Ms. Craveiro (Grades 2-4)

Students will learn to actively listen and think on their feet as they participate in theater games and dramatic play. While taking on different roles in scripts, students will develop their vocal expression and reading fluency. 

 

3D Printing & Coding Club w/ Mr. Pannullo (Grades 3-6)

Come join Mr. Pannullo and learn the importance of coding and 3D printing. Students will explore multiple coding programs, including Mambo drone while learning the importance of coding and the logic behind it. Today our students live in a digital world, and we hope that this club will allow them to see how they can someday become a programmer and impact the lives of others!

 

M.O.V.E. w/ Star Legend (Grades 3-6)

Mindset-Overcome-Vision-Exercise: Let’s M.O.V.E.! Children will learn how to set a positive mindset for daily life and activities and how to overcome challenges that may present themselves on a daily basis. Having vision to see past the present by developing tools through exercise and affirmations and knowing and managing expectations based on responsibilities and lifestyle. All of these points will be structured through exercise, conversation and a small assignment for the following session.

Thursday Classes (8 Weeks)

Junior Coding w/ Mr. Pannullo (Grades K-2)

Children will learn the importance of computer programming and the many applications of it. Students will explore multiple coding programs, including Dash robot while learning the importance of coding and the logic behind it. Today our students live in a digital world, and we hope that this club will allow them to see how they can someday become a programmer and impact the lives of others!

 

Spanish Club w/ Ms. Pakonis (Grades K-3)

Let’s have fun with Spanish! Everything is more fun with games and crafts. Through reading books, making crafts and playing games we will explore Spanish culture and vocabulary.

 

Digital Photography w/ Mrs. Truchel (Grades 3-6)

Students will learn the basics of photography including focus, composition, lighting, and basic editing using Photoshop. Photographers will utilize the iPads to complete weekly photo assignments. They will leave the course with a basic understanding of photography and a portfolio of their best work. 

 

Backyard Sports w/ Mr. V & Ms. Franzi (Grades 3-6)

Move over Savvy Sports there is a new class at EFS. Come participate in a variety of sports and challenges with Mr. V. and Ms. Franzi. Each week, students will explore and understand the rules, regulations, and enjoyment of many recreational activities. Some of the games will include Spike Ball, Corn Hole, Can Jam and Ladder Ball, etc. 

DISCLAIMER: By registering for these classes on MobileArq, you acknowledge that named applicant is emotionally ready, is in good health, and has your permission to participate in this program. You agree that there are no refunds after the first week of classes. You also agree to pay the late pick-up fee of $10 for each child picked-up after 4:35 on any enrichment day.

TO ORDER: Log onto MobileArq (it works much better from a Desktop). Go to Online Stores. At the top left drop-down, select "ESSEX FELLS FOUNDATION". Select the Session and Day for which you would like to register (repeat, if you would like to register for multiple days.) Please note: you will need to order for each child separately (like you do for school lunches). For example, go in and select a specific class option for child A. Do not change the quantity. Select the child’s name and then add it to the cart. Then, continue shopping and place the order for child B, or for the next class for child A. Please make sure you specify which child you are ordering for with each class order.

CHECKOUT: PLEASE CHECKOUT WITH PAYPAL!  Once you have placed your order, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. Please review it and make sure it contains everything you intended to order for the enrichment classes.
